Well the holidays have been and gone and Room 11 has been busy learning about the 3R's:
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
We discovered a cool song on Youtube all about the 3R's by Jack Johnson.
As well as learning about some of the materials that we can RECYCLE, we have been thinking about ways that we can REDUCE and REUSE materials. Part of this has been learning about Worm Farming.
Tiger Worms LOVE the fruit and vegetable scraps that we have left over from brainfood and lunchtime. They also LOVE the hair that Ben's Mum brings us!
Tiger Worms aren't just good for eating scraps though - the worm poo or castings that they make are really good for our class vegetable garden. They also make worm wee which in garden terms is like 'liquid gold'. You can dilute this with water and it is an excellent fertilser for your garden.
Below is a 'snapshot' of the day Room 11 upgraded to a bigger Worm Farm!
Wow Room 11, I love your new worm farm! You all look like you enjoyed putting it together. I hope it goes well and you get lots of worm wees to feed your plants. All the best!
